How it is made
4 steps
- 1
Sugarcane and paper board
Plates start as bagasse, the fibre left after cane is pressed for juice. Cups start as food-grade paper board.
- 2
Pressed with heat
Bagasse is pressed in a heated mould, which forms the plate and sterilises the fibre in the same step.
- 3
Food-grade check
Material conformity for food contact is the maker’s responsibility, under the IS standards for paper and board.
- 4
Sealed and packed
Packed at the unit in Prayagraj and sealed, so nothing is handled loose between the press and your table.
Every claim is printed on the pack.
Some plates are bagasse and some are paper board, and the two do not break down the same way. So a word like compostable is printed only on the packs where it is true, against a certificate we can show you. If it is not on the pack, we are not claiming it.
Frequently asked questions
The six things people ask before their first order.
-
01 Will the cup leak?
No. The cups are rolled and rimmed to hold liquid, which is the whole point of the format. If one ever leaks, message us and we will replace it.
-
02 Can I pour hot tea in it?
Yes. The cups are made for hot drinks. Hold the rim rather than the middle, the way you would with any paper cup.
-
03 Will gravy soak through the plate?
No. The plates are pressed rather than folded, so the rim stays stiff and the surface holds gravy through a full meal.
-
04 Is it microwave safe?
Check the pack for that item. It depends on the material and the lining, which differ across the range, so we do not make one claim for everything. The pack is always right.
-
05 How many pieces come in a pack?
Pack sizes and prices are shown on each marketplace listing. Message us if you want a pack size that is not listed.
-
06 Is it safe for food?
The material is made for food contact, and the plates are formed under heat, which sterilises the fibre as it presses. Food-grade conformity is documented by the maker under the IS standards for paper and board, and we can share it on request.
